Chapel Hill Birth Worker Community

Embracing The Matriarch

The next phase, holding space for community. As I have moved through the natural rhythms of my life cycle, I find myself at another threshold, a place of in-between. I am moving out of the time of motherhood, but I have yet to enter the time of the Crone. This is the time of the matriarch. this is a time of weaving, connecting and guiding….

I look forward to this next phase and bringing the wisdom and experience of my years to aspiring and new birth professionals.

I hope to reach a broader audience in the coming years through my downloadable educational materials/courses for both families and birthworkers. For those who are just starting out in birthwork or are expanding in their business, I will be providing virtual support via coaching calls and resources that can be used with clients & in classes. I will continue to foster networking opportunities with established community connections. In this way, I will also strive to support other women-owned small businesses in our area.

Words from the Community

“Where do we start with Gabe?! I've seen her in action in the homebirth setting. I've witnessed her fulfilling her calling to serve birthing people. From her calm demeanor to her keen awareness, she has what's needed to truly support someone during the labor process. I've observed her as she brought focus and reassurance to a panicking mother. She has held hands, squeezed hips, and wiped brows with grace and humbleness.
Gabe is a true asset to any birth space and I feel fortunate to have worked alongside her as a midwife. She certainly makes my job much easier! ”

— Amber Rodriguez, CPM of Sankofa Birth & Wellness

“At Ohana, we value respect for birthing autonomy, experience, kindness, hard work, and thoughtful, responsive care. We’ve attended births with Gabe, and she personifies these qualities in a doula. Her presence in the birthing space is reassuring, grounded, and warm. At the same time, she’s always working for her client, observing the care team, and making adjustments that enhance her client’s experience. Honestly, we just love walking into a labor and seeing that Gabe is there! And we also love the idea of working with doulas who have mentored with Gabe…we know those doulas will embody the same compassionate and thoughtful care as Gabe.”
