Gratitude from Past birthing Families
“I can’t imagine our birth experience without Gabe. She managed to be the perfect combination of calm, encouraging, firm, gentle, thoughtful, flexible, and more. You can read all the pregnancy and birth books, but experience counts for a lot and that’s what Gabe provided for us. I had a scheduled cesarean for my first birth so we were first-timers when it came to labor. We were hoping for a VBAC this time and felt like we would need some extra support to achieve that goal. Looking back, Gabe really had an uncanny ability to predict how I might be feeling and so she suggested strategies in a way that made me feel like we were calmly transitioning and not frantically working our way through a checklist of coping mechanisms. It was really great to not have that responsibility solely on me and my husband! My husband decided that he wanted to catch our son, so while he was down with the midwife, Gabe was up with me holding my hand or putting pressure on my back. We really enjoyed working with Gabe and highly recommend her to anyone who is ready to work with a doula!”

“I would choose Gabe as my doula over and over again if I could. Not only is she warm and knowledgeable as a person, but as a doula, mother, and woman too. Her reassuring and guiding spirit makes you feel like everything is okay even during the hardest parts of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery. She was there every step of the way even during these times of COVID and when she has her own life to live. She's also super strong as she allowed me to hang on her with all my weight for a long time during labor! She's just overall amazing. I recommend her without reservation!”

“During my labor, Gabe was encouraging and reassuring, offering touch when needed, and reaffirmations to keep me focused. When labor intensified and my contractions had peaked, she was grounded and calm, giving constant physical support and maintain such a peaceful tone despite the intensity of the situation. Pushing was intense and Gabe never faltered, even when I’m sure my grip tightened and my vocalizations turned to screams. I’m sure I couldn’t have birthed our 11lb babe so easily without her support!!”

“I am a father who before our son's birth was skeptical of the doula profession altogether. I thought a third person might invade our privacy. Or perhaps I vainly thought I could support my wife on my own. I had never witnessed a labor before.
In short, Gabe's presence at our son's birth was transformative for me and my wife Janie. She was reassuring, deeply knowledgeable, and created a space for us to bond together - e.g. she did NOT take up too much space on her own. It was truly elegant how Gabe coached and supported my wife, while still letting me play a major supportive role. She coordinated seamlessly with the midwives and nurses and advocated on our behalf, with discretion and tact. She is also simply a joy to be around; after our son's birth, my wife and I agreed we would very much like to be her friend! Gabe expertly helped us navigate the more difficult/tense parts of the labor that required major decision-making while my wife was in pain. She was able to read my wife's emotions and feelings intuitively in a way that helped us maintain wisdom and poise even during exhaustion. Without Gabe, we may have made decisions differently that might have negatively impacted my wife's labor experience. Gabe spent so many hours with us before, during, and after the labor. From a financial perspective, her fee was an absolute bargain in my opinion and she would be justified to charge much more.
In a word, we plan to have several more kids, and I will personally do whatever it takes to make sure Gabe is there for each of their births.”

“Gabe was the perfect presence at the birth of our second child. Her calm, knowledgeable, and intuitive guidance allowed me to labor in a space that felt unobserved and safe.”
